Heritage Oaks Plans Expansion

Nestled in 12-acres of woods and beautiful gardens lies Heritage Oaks Retirement Community, a Richmond tradition since 1989. Entering the lobby, guests experience the charm and comfort of a grand hotel with an open, three-story atrium, fireplace and a 250-gallon saltwater aquarium. The atrium serves as both a place for a quiet family visit or the center for various entertainment activities.

Choices abound at Heritage Oaks for seniors looking for an active, independent lifestyle. The community employs a full-time activities director, and transportation to various locations in the area is available five days a week. On-site healthcare assistance and other personal care services are also available if needed.

The atmosphere is what makes Heritage Oaks such a special place to live. “We are family here,” stated Gunnar Melder, Marketing Director for the complex. “We have a veteran staff that goes out of their way to make our residents feel part of our community.”

Construction is about to begin on a Wellness Center that will connect to the existing facility. The state-of-the-art addition will contain a salt-water aquatics center, featuring a pool with a special, built-in cascading ramp. The first part of the Wellness Center also includes the addition of a covered patio/outdoor kitchen/café for special entertaining. The second part of the expansion calls for the addition of 54 assisted living apartments.

Heritage Oaks is located at 1100 German School Road, just two blocks from Chippenham Medical Center. For more information, call Gunnar Melder at (804) 323-3800 or visit www.heritageoaksretirement.com.
