Assisted Living Facility Gets A Makeover

A new renovation is upgrading the already acclaimed assisted living experience at The Crossings at Ironbridge. The Crossings at Ironbridge, formerly known as Bon Secours Retirement Community, was purchased and renamed in January. Renovations began shortly thereafter.

Leigh Herring, the marketing director at The Crossings, pointed out the renovation is simply a step up for what was already an award-winning facility. “We were recently voted by the Progress-Index as best in the Tri-Cities for assisted living care,” Herring said. “We have outstanding resident satisfaction surveys as well as social services inspection results.”

Herring said some new technology was added to aid the nursing staff. “We’ve installed a new wireless call bell system. Our nurses are wearing pagers now, so if they are with another resident, it will alert the other nurses and track response times,” Herring said. “That way everyone is ensured to get the quality care they deserve when they come to The Crossings.”

Medical attention is also close to home for residents at The Crossings at Ironbridge. “We have rehabilitation services on site and we have a medical director as well as an attending physician,” Herring said.

A new paint job, new carpets and new furniture have given The Crossings at Ironbridge “an updated look and feel,” according to Herring. “They’re very calming colors, so it promotes a serene atmosphere,” she said.
Another change coming as a result of the renovation is an end to seating times in the dining room. Herring said residents would now be offered open seating for meals.

One additional service at The Crossings at Ironbridge could be particularly helpful for families traveling this summer. “We offer respite care,” Herring said, “temporary care for when families go on vacation or business travel.”
