Shockoe Bottom’s newest apartment community is also it’s “coolest”. Atrium Lofts at Cold Storage are the newly renovated and former bustling industrial warehouses of Richmond Cold Storage. For the first 80 years or so of their lives, these five distinct old warehouse buildings used to store all kinds of food and other goods that needed to be kept cool.
But things have never been cooler at these buildings than they are now. The first two of these buildings are now completed, with two more set to be finished next summer. With a sparkling swimming pool, brand new fitness center, and units equipped with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a washer/dryer in every unit, the community has all of the luxuries that downtown residents have come to expect. However, these apartments deliver a few extras that help make this development so exciting.
Included in residents’ rent are all utilities, including not just the basics, but the extras too. Residents of Atrium Lofts at Cold Storage get free water & sewer, free electricity, free digital cable television with HBO, free high speed internet, and free well-lit parking. In the first building, every unit comes equipped with a wall-mounted 32” flat screen television. In the newest building, residents have just begun moving into their new homes. Every unit here comes equipped with an iPod docking station built into the wall and two stereo speakers mounted in the living room. Of course, to make your new home complete, you get a brand new free iPod of your own when you move in.
Located just down the hill from Virginia Commonwealth University’s downtown medical campus, the location is particularly convenient for those residents who want to be able to leave their cars parked for free, but also be able to walk to work and to some of Richmond’s most popular restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues.
